FACEBOOK!
I was on Facebook this week! Haven't been on as much as i was, but i started playing this game Song Pop. I absolutely love this game. I was so surprised at the number of songs that i knew the names of and from so many different genres. My kids even like playing this game. Of some of the games on Facebook, I do believe that this is one of the better one's.

Numb!!!
This week i have had a range of emotions, problems, and situations to arise. I had to contend with the loss of a family member. I have defiantly had better weeks. I didn't not interact with anyone much this week as i just wanted to be at home and away from everything the world had going on. So for my pop culture this week i have been numb to it all. sorry no exciting stories from me this week.

LESSONS
Thus far this semester i have i have found that i need to work on my time management. I'm so use to being on the go with my kids that i don't make time for anything else. My writing has surely gotten a little better from the previous classes i have taken just from the first grade on my paper. I have many areas to improve in and as the semester goes on and i break out of my QUIET SHELL i know that i will.

NOTHING!!!
This week was so very empty on the pop culture seen for me. I found myself not doing much of anything as far as t.v., music, or even being on the computer. The only time I logged on was to post this blog for today and do my paper during the week. I guess I just needed a break from the wonderful world of technology for a while! I enjoyed it!

NOT LIKE THE GOOD OL DAYS!
This week has been a little all over everywhere for me. I had my niece with me a few days this week and she is big in to the hip hop and rap music. We were riding in the car and she plugged up her phone and begins to play the music on it. I so thought i was going to crash from the sound coming through my speakers. I could hardly understand what they were saying. Of course I asked her what they were saying and she told me. My mouth fell open. Sex, lies, drama, demoralizing women is all I got from all the songs she played. I could no longer take it. I snapped! I told her about the music i grew up on and of course i had to go dig out some of collection. I grew up listening to music that painted a picture of happiness and love. Even though I am an 80's baby, the music i listened to as a child was from the 70's. I told my niece that most of the music she is listening to, the beats and hooks came form back then and have just been remade and changed to fit today's generation. She has a better understanding and respect for music since the day of our OL SCHOOL MUSIC JAM SESSION! I have successfully opened her eyes to another era of music and in the last 2 days she has called and asked for some suggestions on good wholesome music to add to her playlist. SCORE ONE FOR THE OL SCHOOL AUNTIE!!!

Crap draft
I think that Lamont's advice is very on point. I agree with her on the point that a crap first draft makes for an awesome second draft because it leaves room for improvement. I have always be one to have a chicken scratch first draft where all my thoughts are all over the place. By the time i finish the paper or what ever i am writing it is a work of art.

ABC ABC...(in my Elmo voice)
My pop culture experience for the week was the ABC's. My 3 year old loves Elmo and wants to watch anything to do with Elmo. We have been working on her preschool prep for school next year and we started singing the ABC's. I taught her the traditional ABC song. Well apparently my 10yr old has taught her several different versions of the song as well as singing the alphabet backwards which blew me away. So in mid song she stops me and says "Mommie that's not right" and begins to sing it in a different tune ( Elmo and India Arie version with sound affects and all lol). I say ok so we sing it like Elmo for 3 days and then she come wit the super why version from PBS kids channel which is a fast pace song. I am truly amazed at what children absorb in their minds and so quickly. I wish i still had the ability to learn that quickly!

class prep
I usually am a BIG procrastinator when it comes to preparing for anything. I have always been a go with the flow type of person. As for class discussion will most times just sit in the back and say nothing. That's where I am comfortable. If the discussion strikes a nerve or I just have some knowledge in the subject then I will say a word or to but for the most part I'm quiet!

Life & Favor
I very rarely listen to the radio. I mostly listen to the music on my computer that I have downloaded. I have been working on getting my 1st sermon together, but I have been feeling like I was missing something. As I continued my studies, I took a break and turned on the radio. The song that was playing was what was missing from my soon to be BIG DAY. The song is called Life & Favor by John P. Kee. I have never heard a more perfect song to describe me. No one knows my story or the things that I have endured to get to where I am in my life and my christian walk, and the song breaks it down so well. I couldn't have said it better myself if i had tried. I am very excited about preaching my 1st sermon on Sept.30th and now that I have this song added to my BIG DAY It is going to be AWESOME.

Loving Past the Pain
I believe a skill that i have is the ability to love beyond being wronged, hurt, dismissed, counted out, ect. I call this a skill because everyone can not do that. As a child i was always the over weight kid who kept to myself. I didn't have a lot of friends and the one's i did have i could count on one hand. Kids are mean little creatures, but mean adults are worse. I promised myself at around the age of 15 that i wouldn't be one of those adults to talk about children or adults. I know that hurt and don't want anyone to be hurt behind words that i have spoken. The walk of love is a hard and daily walk for me, but i have learned to tune out stupidity and K.I.M. (keep it movin). People always are going to have something to say no sense in entertaining their lack of knowledge

Me in a nutshell!
Good morning! My name is EliciaWhitten. I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I am a single mother of 2 beautiful chilldren age 10 (almost 11) and 3. I moved to Murfreesboro almost 7 years ago to be closer to my sisters. What a change that was for me. I feel like I live in the country compaired to what I came from LOL, but I have adgusted well. My pop culture intrestes are very limited as my children monopolize ALL my time. When I have some free time which is very rare, I am an R&B, Jazz, and Gospel kind of chick. I love music. i have loved music since i was a child. In my younger days I played the flute, but I let that go when I had my first child. She was more important than me playing and paying for the instrument! As you can see, I am all about my kids. They are my world.
I don't have any formal history in reasearch and arguments. I was never intrested in the talking thing as i like to stay to myself and watch from a distance! As the oldest child, I do tend to argue in that sense very well. I have the final say in those arguements. Sometimes! This blogging and talking online is very new to me, so I don't do any online discussions. I'm sure this will be quit the experience for me. Oh and I am a HORRIBLE speller so please overlook any misspellings! Thanks Enjoy.
